Why not wait
A tape keeps decaying in the cupboard, played or not
On a videotape the picture exists only as a weak magnetic pattern. With age the glue holding the oxide layer to the base film weakens: colour drains away, the soundtrack hisses and a tired old player can snag and crease the tape. Most home footage still sitting in Lithuanian homes was filmed 25 to 40 years ago.
A digital transfer freezes the recording as it is today. A file can be duplicated endlessly without loss, sent to relatives abroad and backed up in several places.
We run each cassette on serviced players and camcorders, watch the result and repair broken cassettes before the transfer begins.

What is the simplest way to post tapes from Lithuania to Tallinn?
Use a parcel locker. Omniva charges from €7.49 for a Lithuanian-locker-to-Estonian-locker parcel, LP Express €8.99, and DPD Pickup is another option. Delivery takes 2–3 working days. We give you the Tallinn locker address and packing tips when we answer your request.
The cassette is broken or the tape has snapped. Is it lost?
Usually not, so post it exactly as it is. We restore and repair cassettes: we splice snapped tape, rehouse it in a fresh shell or free a jammed mechanism. Repair is €9 per cassette and only happens with your go-ahead.
How is payment handled?
With an invoice, made out either to a private person or to a company. You know the figure beforehand because we confirm the price before any work starts.
When will my files be ready?
In most cases 10–14 working days after the parcel reaches Tallinn. For very large collections we agree a timetable with you.
Which file type do you deliver?
MP4, which plays on phones, computers and smart TVs, sent as a Google Drive link or on a USB stick. For MiniDV and Digital8 the untouched DV files are available on request.
Will the cassettes come back?
Yes, if you want them. We post them to the parcel locker you choose, or you can pick them up at our Tallinn office. We settle the return method in advance.
